Five Nights at Freddy's 2’s sequel is on its way with the point-and-click survival horror game currently in development, developer Scott Cawthon confirmed via an automatic email response.
“Five Nights at Freddy's 3 is in production!,” Cawthon
writes in the email generated for those who reach out, adding that any
further questions about the sequel will not be read or answered. The
sequel was first teased on Cawthon's official website where the phrase
"I'm still here" is paired with an image of Fazbear.
Cawthon warns that as people have been posing as him on Twitter, Twitch, and other sites to trust sources such as his official website,
and Steam pages for Five Nights at Freddy's 1 and 2. The developer also
mentions his support of fan games, within certain parameters, and asks
fans to be supportive of people in the community and those creating
fan-games.
“I love to see fan games and encourage them as long as they
are free and do not infringe on anyone elses rights,” he writes.
“Please clearly label your game as a fan game, and as a courtesy please
do not name your game Five Nights at Freddy's 3, 4, etc, as it may cause
confusion. I reserve the right to have fan-games removed if they
duplicate the original games too closely or if I feel it is necessary
for some other reason. No mobile versions of Five Nights at Freddy's
fan-games will be permitted.”
Five Nights at Freddy's was first released via Desura on
August 8, 2014 with its sequel launching a few months later on November
11. Both titles are available on Windows PC, iOS and Android.
